EFTPS Setup Walkthrough

Step 1: Visit eftps.gov and click 'Enrollment.' Step 2: Enter your SSN, name, address, and banking information. Step 3: EFTPS mails a PIN to your address (7–10 business days). Step 4: Activate your account with the PIN. Step 5: Schedule quarterly payments for the full year (Payment Type: '1040 Estimated Tax'; Tax Period: current year). Step 6: Set payment dates to 3–5 days before each due date to allow processing time.

💡Schedule Payments in January

Set up all four quarterly payments for the full year in January — including Q4 due January 15 of next year. EFTPS allows scheduling up to 365 days in advance. This eliminates all risk of missing any due date for the entire year with one 15-minute setup session.

The Monthly 5-Minute Tax Check

On the first of each month: (1) Log into tax reserve HYSA. (2) Confirm balance is growing at approximately (monthly revenue × 28%). (3) Confirm no unauthorized transfers out. (4) Verify next quarterly payment date on calendar. That’s it — 5 minutes prevents the most expensive quarterly tax failure.
